Our Team

In addition to our in-house team of tradespeople and construction professionals — who are all highly skilled, certified, licensed, bonded and insured — we also work with a number of trusted partners. Building a home, or undertaking a significant renovation, involves a large number of tradespeople and suppliers, each of whom plays a key role in the building process. We’ve carefully selected the best suppliers and have partnered with highly experienced, dedicated tradespeople who, over time, have become an extension of our company.

We value long-term relationships within our community as much as we value building homes. In fact, we continue to use many of the same subcontractors and suppliers that we’ve worked with since building our first custom homes. Establishing these long-term partnerships has allowed us to consistently provide unparalleled service, performance and products throughout the construction process.  More about our process…

Wondering if we can work with a specific tradesperson of your choice? Yes, as long as he or she is licensed, insured and certified, and their involvement coincides with the project’s timeline, we’re happy to work with other professionals in the Comox Valley.

Our Leader

Sayre Neufeld – Owner and Operator

Licensed and Registered builder and Red Seal Carpenter

Sayre Neufeld, owner and operator of Coast Catalyst Construction, was born in Black Creek and raised in the Comox Valley. He began working in the construction industry at the age of 12, when he started helping out with his father’s Comox Valley construction company during the summer months. For decades, Sayre has learned from this mentorship, amassing more than 30 years of experience in the Comox Valley construction industry.

Though Sayre attained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Microbiology from the University of Victoria in 2004, he eventually left the sciences to create his own construction company and pursue his lifelong passion: intertwining traditional building techniques with innovative advances in construction to build elegant, functional custom homes.

He launched Sayre Neufeld Contracting in 2006, eventually rebranding as Coast Catalyst Construction in 2017. One thing that hasn’t changed, however, is Sayre’s commitment to helping you build your family’s legacy right here in the Comox Valley.
