Coast Catalyst Construction began in 2006 with a desire to carry forward a family tradition of building in the Comox Valley. What started as a small operation, working alongside family with the occasional extra set of hands, gradually grew into something more.
As the company evolved, so did our vision. We focused on building a dedicated team, developing lasting relationships, and establishing a reputation for quality workmanship and reliability.
Over time, we became more intentional about the projects we took on, the clients we worked with, and the culture we wanted to create. We recognized that the experience of building or renovating a home is just as important as the finished product.
Today, Coast Catalyst Construction reflects that evolution. We’re proud of our roots, the people who make up our team, and the relationships we’ve built throughout the Comox Valley over the past 20 years.

Meet Sayre
Founder & Owner | Red Seal Carpenter | Licensed Residential Builder
Born in Black Creek and raised in the Comox Valley, Sayre’s connection to construction began at an early age, working alongside his father in the family building business. With over 30 years of experience in the industry, he brings a combination of hands-on knowledge, practical problemsolving, and thoughtful leadership to Coast Catalyst Construction.
After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Microbiology from the University of Victoria, Sayre returned to construction and founded his own company in 2006. His scientific
background continues to influence his analytical approach to problem-solving, planning, and business development.
Today, his focus extends beyond building quality homes. He is passionate about developing a strong team, fostering a collaborative workplace, and creating positive experiences for clients. His
approach is grounded in the belief that successful projects are built on clear communication, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to doing things well.
Meet Joanne
Office Manager
Joanne brings extensive experience in finance, leadership, and business administration to Coast
Catalyst Construction. With a background in financial advising and managing accounting teams, she
combines strong organizational skills with a thoughtful, practical approach to problem-solving.
At Coast Catalyst, Joanne plays an important role in keeping the company’s operations organized and running smoothly. From managing invoicing and project management software to developing and improving internal systems, her attention to detail and commitment to efficiency provide valuable support to the entire team.
Joanne values the collaborative and supportive culture at Coast Catalyst and enjoys being part of a team that takes pride in its work. Outside the office, she is dedicated to her family and community and enjoys spending time outdoors, particularly camping, hiking, and kayaking.
