About Coast Catalyst Construction
Creating elegant Comox Valley living spaces since 2006
From sea to sky and everything in between, the Comox Valley boasts an abundance of gorgeous properties on which to build. When it comes to building that home you’ve been envisioning for years — or renovating, upgrading or updating your current space — you deserve to work with the best.
Launching as Sayre Neufeld Contracting in 2006 and rebranded as Coast Catalyst Construction in 2017, we’re a small, passionate crew of handpicked construction experts and tradespeople led by Home Protection Office (HPO) registered builder Sayre Neufeld.
We pride ourselves on our commitment to honesty and integrity, and we believe in putting our clients first — always. Hand in hand, we’ll work with your ideas, schedule and budget to create a space your family will cherish for generations.
Our decades of experience have allowed us to refine our process into an art form, yet we continually work to upgrade our education, stay on the pulse of new trends and adhere to the highest safety standards and time-honoured practices that are the cornerstones of our trade. You should expect no less from your homebuilder.
Coast Catalyst Construction aspires to build a lasting legacy — not just for our company, but also for our clients and our community — by doing what we love most.
We are committed to delivering the highest quality craftsmanship to each and every one of our clients. As we expand and embrace new opportunities, we strive to also set new standards in homebuilding and construction for Vancouver Island. Our goal is to become the Comox Valley’s number one contractor of choice for custom home builds and renovations. Our promise to you is that every job we do will be performed with honesty and integrity, and will clearly demonstrate our passion for the trade.
In addition to our in-house team of tradespeople and construction professionals — who are all highly skilled, certified, licensed, bonded and insured — we also work with a number of trusted partners. Building a home, or undertaking a significant renovation, involves a large number of tradespeople and suppliers, each of whom plays a key role in the building process. We’ve carefully selected the best suppliers and have partnered with highly experienced, dedicated tradespeople who, over time, have become an extension of our company.
We value long-term relationships within our community as much as we value building homes. In fact, we continue to use many of the same subcontractors and suppliers that we’ve worked with since building our first custom homes. Establishing these long-term partnerships has allowed us to consistently provide unparalleled service, performance and products throughout the construction process. More about our process…
Wondering if we can work with a specific tradesperson of your choice? Yes, as long as he or she is licensed, insured and certified, and their involvement coincides with the project’s timeline, we’re happy to work with other professionals in the Comox Valley.

Sayre Neufeld, owner and operator of Coast Catalyst Construction, was born in Black Creek and raised in the Comox Valley. He began working in the construction industry at the age of 12, when he started helping out with his father’s Comox Valley construction company during the summer months. For decades, Sayre has learned from this mentorship, amassing more than 30 years of experience in the Comox Valley construction industry.
Though Sayre attained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Microbiology from the University of Victoria in 2004, he eventually left the sciences to create his own construction company and pursue his lifelong passion: intertwining traditional building techniques with innovative advances in construction to build elegant, functional custom homes.
He launched Sayre Neufeld Contracting in 2006, eventually rebranding as Coast Catalyst Construction in 2017. One thing hat hasn’t changed, however, is Sayre’s commitment to helping you build your family’s legacy right here in the Comox Valley.
